Right after my Bachelors, I decided to do my Masters in Finance in the UK because it was the known financial hub.
Starting my MSc, I knew the real challenge wasn't the degree. It was landing a job after.
Four months in, I started applying for Graduate Scheme programs in the UK. But little did I know what was about to come.
It wasn't until January 2024 that I truly dove in, customising my CV, and intensely applying for jobs.
This was the start of an intense job search that reshaped my entire approach to job hunting.
1000+ applications —> 996 rejections —> 4 interviews —> 2 final round rejections —> 1 offer.
Each rejection was a lesson which made me question everything, but every interview that I had was a ray of hope.
A huge moment of realisation that you only need one ‘YES’ that could change your life.
If there's one thing I could change about this entire journey, it would be starting earlier with a more strategic approach.
But hindsight is 20/20, and every step led me to where I am today.
Unimad played a huge role in my job search, specifically, the LinkedIn Optimisation and Value Proposition Document.
It was after the onboarding call with Shaki, that I started using LinkedIn to my benefit.
The Value Proposition document was something that I hadn’t come across before which played a huge role in my job offer.
It allowed me to stand out as an applicant, clearly articulating my unique value to potential employer.
In a job market where everyone looks good on paper, this VPD helped me show why I wasn't just a good fit, but the best fit.
To those still on this journey, here's my two cents:
There are countless strategies and success stories out there.
Understand them, but don't just copy them. Create your own version.
